Certification Bonus
Seasonal staff members will receive additional weekly pay for any currently valid external certifications from a nationally or internationally recognized training organization. In the event that a certification does not list an expiration date we will consider them valid if the course was within the past 3 years. Here are the current bonus rates:
- Wilderness First Responder (WFR) from SOLO, WMA or other agency $20
- Wilderness EMT / Paramedic $20
- Climbing Certification PCGI, AMGA: Top Rope, Single Pitch, Lead Climb, Rescue $20 per certification, maximum 2 certifications.
- American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, Lifeguard Trainer $10 per certification
- United States Coast Guard Captains License $50
- Swiftwater Rescue (non-ACA) $20
- ACA Paddling Certifications: Level III and above - $20 per certification, maximum 2 certifications
In addition to adventure sports skills, we also recognize certifications for school teachers, and we can offer a bonus of $30 per week for any one of the following credentials:
- State Public School Teaching Credential.
- Waldorf Teacher Training Program
- Montessori Teacher Training Program
Though these are valuable skills, we regret that no bonus is currently offered for the following certifications:
- PSIA Ski instructor (or other downhill ski instruction)
- AERI - Avalanche Safety
- CPR
- Basic First Aid
- Wilderness First Aid
- Red Cross Lifeguard
- Leave No Trace
We also recognize that some certifications are available for non-adventure skills, such as social and emotional skills, mediation, racial and gender diversity. We regret that we are unable to offer a bonus for most other non-adventure skill certifications. We also recognize that some specialty skills such as crafts, music, arts, repairs may have no accreditation process. Please feel free to discuss your unique training and credentials with us, and we will consider them on a case-by-case basis.
